2026 AGRA WEANER CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES
Agra Launches the 2026 Agra Weaner Championship Series Windhoek, Namibia on 6 May 2026.
Agra officially launched the 2026 Agra Weaner Championship Series at the Agra Bank Windhoek Ring in Windhoek on Wednesday evening, celebrating the official start of the 14th edition of one of Namibia’s premier livestock production competitions.
The launch event served as an opportunity to thank Agra’s valued sponsors and partners for their continued commitment and support towards the championship series, while also celebrating the start of another season dedicated to production excellence within Namibia’s livestock industry.
The 2026 Agra Weaner Championship Series will officially kick off on 8 July 2026 in Summerdown and will stretch across 19 locations countrywide, once again bringing together producers from across Namibia to showcase the quality and standards of Namibian weaner production.
Addressing sponsors, media and stakeholders at the launch, Agra CEO, Arnold Klein, highlighted the important role producers continue to play in sustaining Namibia’s agricultural sector despite increasing external pressures.
“The Agra Weaner Championship Series is more than a competition. It reflects the hard work and commitment that happens long before auction day, from breeding decisions and animal health management to feeding, grazing and daily livestock care,” said Arnold Klein.
He further noted that producers continue to face challenges such as rising fuel prices, increased input costs, changing market conditions and ongoing animal disease risks, including Foot-and-Mouth Disease (FMD). These factors continue to place pressure on transport, planning, profitability and market confidence across the agricultural sector.
Despite these pressures, Namibian producers continue to demonstrate resilience while delivering livestock of exceptional quality. The series therefore remains an important platform for recognising producers while strengthening the competitiveness and standards of the Namibian beef value chain.
Paul Klein, Executive: Agra Auctions, also highlighted the changing dynamics within the regional beef industry. Namibia continues to strengthen its position as a quality beef producer, supported by growing local demand for weaners and increased export slaughter capacity within the country. As Namibia’s beef value chain continues to expand, the championship plays an important role in promoting breeding standards, market-aligned production practices and value addition at farm level.
Stretching across 19 locations nationwide, the Agra Weaner Championship Series remains one of Namibia’s largest livestock production platforms, connecting producers across all major cattle-producing regions while encouraging healthy competition, benchmarking and production excellence.
