Agra is proud to be “hooked on results,” and in keeping with the trend to stimulate the agricultural economy during these tough times, Agra Auctions hosted four commercial livestock auctions across Namibia last week. These auctions included small and large stock commercial animals, as well as the prestigious Okosongoro Super Game Boma Auction.

On Wednesday the 10th of June, there was a small stock auction at Koës, which saw sheep prices of the different weight classes range between N$24.93/kg and N$32.70/kg. In the sub groups, the average price for sheep rams was N$1,227.00, while ewes fetched N$922.00 on average. Sheep lambs averaged N$1,272.00 at an average price of N$32.28/kg. Goat rams averaged N$1,276.00 and ewes at N$1.018.00. Total turnover for the auction was around N$625,000.00.

On Thursday 11 June there was a large and small stock auction at the Agra Bank Windhoek Ring in Windhoek. Average prices ranged from N$4,160.00 for small heifers all the way to N$ 10,462.00 for large oxen. The total turnover was around N$3,3 million at this auction.

12 June saw a turnover total of more than N$2,6 million recorded in Otavi. Prices were fairly similar to what we saw in Windhoek, as young heifers (131-200kg) averaged N$5,333.00 (compared to N$5,733 in Windhoek for the same class) and large oxen averaged N$10,645.00. There were also 20 goats and seven sheep on auction at Otavi.

On Saturday 13 June the Okosongoro Super Game Boma Auction took place at farm Okosongoro near Kalkveld. Although this was not a digital auction, Agra did take into account the regional restrictions in place due to the latest Covid-19 developments and therefore facilitated a Facebook live stream for interested parties who were not able to join the auction in person. Remote bids were taken via telephone. The auction had a turnover of more than N$4,5 million and at one point, over 700 people were following the live stream at once on social media. Some of the highlights included a roan bull which sold for N$181,000, a sable bull fetched N$50,000, an impala ram was sold for N$38,000 and a damara dik-dik breeding pair sold for N$17,000.

Please feel free to follow the Agra Auctions page on Facebook for more comprehensive auction results. These results are published soon after the auctions and contain detailed breakdowns of all categories as reported.
